Lost blogs. Last week, I went to write my normal Monday blog for the Women’s Wisdom web site. I checked back on previous ones and discovered that the ones I had written for September had disappeared! And of course I hadn’t copied them elsewhere. I can’t even remember what I wrote about! Lesson learned: copy and store each one, and print a copy, too.
I had rehired the man who created the web site for me and in the process of him taking over, something apparently happened. He said GoDaddy was having some problems at the time. Oh, well. Move on is my only choice. It’s reassuring to have technical help again as I was having increasing difficulty making changes to the site. What I did get is FRUSTRATED. My writer friends asked what it would cost to rehire Elliott. When I told them, they asked, “Can you afford it?” I said yes, finally admitting to myself that I could afford it and doing so would free me up to actually do more writing instead of wasting my time. I worked hard for many years, saved money, so why the reluctance to spend some of it on myself? Not sure – perhaps just the habit of not spending unnecessarily.
I changed my thinking. I am not wasting money, I am investing it in my writing which has been helpful to many people. Guess I’m taking my own advice to value myself and my efforts. Easier said than done, apparently! Sarah, a young friend, gave a speech on what she found valuable in reading Women’s Wisdom: Pass It On! “Kathleen talks about growing up, not old. She encourages broadening our perspective which promotes self-acceptance, self-confidence, and exploring ways to go about creating AUTHENTIC HAPPINESS in our lives!”
Lost blogs? Yes. But I found a renewed value of myself and my writing.
