I invite you and other readers to contribute what you know or have learned, or perhaps ask a question, describing a specific situation and requesting suggestions on how you might handle it. My hope is that this proves to be a lively, rich conversation and source of solid, life-based information for all of us. You can add to the conversation, or just read the questions and contributions. Collectively, we women have a lot of wisdom, and this is one way we can Pass It On!

Gaining wisdom is a process that happens over a lifetime IF we pay attention along the way. Once something occurs, reflect on it. What happened? What prompted it? How did you respond? Was it helpful or not? What will you do differently (if anything) if the situation comes up again? In other words, reflection lets us assess what happens in our lives, then determine how we will ACT or change our behavior in the future.
My husband and I recently returned from 12 days in Spain. As always happens when I go to another country, my mind expands. I was delighted to discover that much of the Spanish I studied for six years in school decades ago came rushing back after a couple days of immersion on-site. It seems being in the right environment was just what I needed, and I wish I could have stayed for another month, at least. I wonder what other skills might be resurrected if I put myself in the right environment? This has a broader application than I first thought. I was about to give up my writers’ group as we are going through a slump, but I realize that I need to find a couple other people to join in so I can surround myself with others who also are inspired to write. No matter how small the group (last time we were only three), we each leave feeling motivated.
Is there something in which you need to immerse yourself for…music? art? exercise? Whatever you are interested in, seek others who will help you create an environment in which to thrive.
